Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., appeared on “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Monday night to reveal shocking new claims regarding the assassination attempt against former President Trump last month. Hawley disclosed that he had spoken with whistleblowers who provided him with concerning information about the lead site agent at the Butler, Pennsylvania rally on July 13.
During the rally, gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks shot Trump from a sloped roof, hitting him in the ear and tragically killing one attendee. The 20-year-old also injured two others before being taken down by Secret Service agents. This incident has sparked intense scrutiny of the Secret Service by both Republicans and Democrats in recent weeks.
Hawley alleged on the show that the lead site agent was known to be inexperienced and “incompetent.” He claimed that the agent failed to enforce normal security protocols, such as checking people’s IDs and utilizing Secret Service agents instead of Homeland Security agents.
Furthermore, the senator asserted that some Secret Service agents are dissatisfied with the agency’s handling of the shooting and are coming forward as whistleblowers. They are reportedly concerned that similar security lapses could occur again in the future.
Following his appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Hawley took to social media to share a scathing letter he had sent to Secret Service acting director Ronald L. Rowe, demanding answers about the lead site agent’s assignment and the failure to follow proper protocols. Hawley urged the agency to suspend the agent from all duties pending an investigation into the claims.
Fox News Digital reached out to the Secret Service for comment but has not received a response at this time. The shocking revelations made by Sen. Hawley have raised serious questions about the security measures in place during high-profile events and the need for accountability within the Secret Service.
