Whistleblowers Alleged Majority of Trump’s Security Detail Were Not Secret Service, Republican Lawmaker Says

Whistleblowers inside the Department of Homeland Security have come forward with shocking allegations regarding the security detail for former President Donald Trump. According to Republican Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri, the majority of the security personnel at Trump’s recent rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, were “not even Secret Service.”

In a public letter to Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, Sen. Hawley outlined a series of security failures at the event, including the lack of detection canines, unauthorized access to backstage areas, and a shortage of personnel around the security perimeter. One of the most concerning claims is that the majority of individuals protecting Trump were not U.S. Secret Service agents, but rather Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents who were unfamiliar with standard security protocols for such events.

Hawley criticized the DHS for failing to provide information about the incident to Congress and abruptly ending a briefing with USSS officials before senators could ask questions. Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin also expressed frustration with the lack of information provided during a separate briefing on the recent assassination attempt against Trump.

Hawley’s letter demands answers to key questions raised by the whistleblowers, including the ratio of USSS to HSI agents and the extent of pre-rally security investigations. The allegations have raised serious concerns about the security measures in place for high-profile events involving former presidents.
