TV presenter Michael Mosley, known for popularizing the 5:2 diet, has gone missing while on holiday on the Greek island of Symi. A photo of Mr. Mosley on holiday in Symi was shared on a local Facebook group on Wednesday, sparking concerns for his whereabouts.
According to Greek Police, Mr. Mosley left his wife on the beach and set off on a walk to the center of the island on Wednesday. His phone was found in the place he was staying with his wife, who reported him missing. A search and rescue operation is currently underway, with a police dog, drone, and a helicopter from Athens assisting in the efforts.
The 67-year-old broadcaster is well known for his work on programs such as Trust Me, I’m A Doctor and appearances on The One Show and This Morning. Despite extensive search efforts, Mr. Mosley has not been located, leading authorities to expand their search to include CCTV footage and other areas of the island.
Symi, part of Greece’s Dodecanese island group, is known for its remote beaches and challenging terrain. Local residents are puzzled as to why Mr. Mosley would embark on a hike in such conditions without his phone for navigation. The area surrounding the Agios Nikolaos beach, where he was last seen, is rocky and difficult to traverse.
The Foreign Office has stated that they are supporting the family of the missing British man and are in contact with local authorities. Mr. Mosley’s colleagues and friends have expressed their concern and hope for his safe return, with many taking to social media to share their thoughts and prayers.
As the search for Michael Mosley continues, the community remains hopeful for a positive outcome and the safe return of the beloved TV presenter.
