A heroic food truck owner in California was hospitalized after he bravely intervened to stop a robbery and assault on an elderly woman, according to FOX 11 LA.

Bryan Tecun, the owner of Bryan’s Birrieria food truck in Long Beach, California, was driving home when he witnessed the woman being attacked. Without hesitation, Tecun jumped out of his car and ran to help the victim.

He chased the suspect to a nearby park and tackled him down, but not without sustaining serious injuries. Tecun was stabbed once in his rib cage and once between his neck and shoulder during the confrontation, according to police.

Despite initially dismissing the need for medical attention, Tecun began feeling dizzy and was taken to the hospital. He was found to have a collapsed lung and internal bleeding, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Tecun’s selfless act of bravery has garnered praise from the community, with many commending his quick thinking and willingness to help a stranger in need.

“I wouldn’t ever like for something like that to happen to one of my relatives or to my mom. I would hope somebody would step in,” Tecun said.

The Long Beach Police Department is investigating the incident and working to apprehend the suspect responsible for the attack.
