Five University of Georgia students are being hailed as heroes after their quick thinking and bravery saved a family from a near-tragic accident. The group of young women, on their way to Savannah for a weekend trip, came across a submerged minivan with a family trapped inside. Without hesitation, Eleanor Cart, Kaitlyn Iannace, Clarke Jones, Jane McArdle, and Molly McCollum sprang into action.
Two of the students entered the water to rescue the passengers while the others gathered supplies and called for help. One student even performed CPR on a child, who miraculously began responding within a minute. The family, including two children, was taken to the hospital but released the next day, thanks to the heroic efforts of these young women.
The University of Georgia honored the students with a lifesaving heroism proclamation, and they will also be recognized at the Kappa Alpha Theta Grand Convention for their bravery. The Sardis Police Department praised the students for their selflessness and courage, calling them true heroes.
This heartwarming story serves as a reminder of the power of quick thinking and teamwork in the face of adversity. The actions of these young women undoubtedly saved lives and inspired a community.
