Mary Morton, a 99-year-old retired assistant principal in the Bronx, N.Y., had one wish – to live long enough to see her granddaughter, Melanie Renee White, walk down the aisle with her longtime boyfriend, Andrew R. Trotter. On Feb. 22, that wish came true as Ms. Morton led the ceremonial celebration at Secret Gardens Miami in Homestead, Fla.
The couple, who had been dating for over a decade, had tested Ms. Morton’s patience, but she was overjoyed to finally witness their union. Ms. White, now 37, and Mr. Trotter, 38, had legally married in January at Philadelphia City Hall, but the ceremonial celebration was a special moment for the entire family.
The couple’s journey to marriage was filled with ups and downs, including a brief breakup in 2018. However, they reconciled and continued to build their family, welcoming two daughters, Annie and True.
Mr. Trotter’s proposal, which took place at an Adele concert in Las Vegas, was a memorable moment for the couple. Despite a few hiccups with the proposal plan, Ms. White said yes, and the couple began planning their wedding.
The wedding itself was a grand affair, with nearly 150 guests in attendance. The couple’s two daughters played a special role in the celebration, serving as flower girls and actively participating in the festivities.
From custom newspapers for guests to a surprise lion appearance, the wedding was filled with unique and memorable moments. The couple’s commitment to each other and their family was evident throughout the celebration.
As they danced the night away with their daughters by their side, the couple reflected on the importance of officially solidifying their family through marriage. For them, it was a significant step in their journey together.
After almost twelve years together, with two beautiful daughters and a lifetime of memories, Melanie and Drew Trotter embraced the next chapter of their lives as a married couple, surrounded by love, laughter, and the promise of a bright future together.
