Labrador dog rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in spare tire

Firefighters in southern New Jersey came to the rescue of a dog who found herself in a tight spot – literally. Daisy, an 11-month-old yellow Labrador, was discovered with her neck deeply wedged in the middle of a spare tire rim at a Franklin Township home.

The Franklinville Volunteer Fire Company crew quickly sprang into action, working to free Daisy while keeping her calm. Lt. Brandon Volpe explained that they tried using dish soap and water, followed by vegetable oil and plastic wrap to make her neck slippery enough to slide out, but nothing seemed to work.

Finally, Volpe remembered he had plasma cutters at his home, typically used for cutting steel and metal. The crew transported Daisy on a red wagon to Volpe’s garage, where they were able to free her within five minutes.

Despite a moment of panic from Daisy, the firefighters were able to safely rescue her from the tire. The heartwarming rescue serves as a reminder of the dedication and quick thinking of first responders in the community.
