A shocking crime rocked the hip-hop world as a Los Angeles jury found Freddie Trone guilty of orchestrating the murder of rapper PnB Rock. The 42-year-old man was convicted of multiple charges, including murder, robbery, and conspiracy, after his 17-year-old son carried out the deadly attack in September 2022.
The tragic incident took place at a Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles restaurant, where PnB Rock was dining with his girlfriend and mother of his child. The teen, wearing a ski mask, entered the restaurant, demanded the rapper’s jewelry, and opened fire, ultimately leading to PnB Rock’s untimely death.
Prosecutors argued during the trial that Trone had ordered his son to commit the crime, while Trone’s defense claimed he was only an accessory after the fact. The teen, now 19 years old, has also been arrested on murder and robbery charges but has not yet been deemed competent to stand trial.
A third man, Tremont Jones, was also charged in connection with the case and found guilty of robbery and conspiracy. Both Jones and Trone are set to be sentenced on August 27.
The District Attorney expressed satisfaction with the convictions, stating that justice had been served for PnB Rock and his family. The rapper’s girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang, shared her harrowing experience of the shooting, expressing her grief and gratitude for PnB Rock’s heroism in saving her life.
Tributes poured in for the late rapper from fellow artists, with Drake, Offset, and Nicki Minaj among those honoring his memory. PnB Rock, born Rakim Hasheem Allen, had risen to fame with hits like “Selfish” and collaborated with renowned artists like Ed Sheeran.
The hip-hop community mourns the loss of a talented artist and condemns the senseless violence that took his life. As the legal process continues, the legacy of PnB Rock lives on through his music and the impact he had on those around him.
