The Democratic National Convention has been a sight to behold, with a plethora of eye-catching moments and fashion statements that have captured the attention of attendees and onlookers alike.

From notable celebrity appearances by the likes of Lil Jon, Oprah Winfrey, and John Legend to manicure stations offering blue nail polish with the option to add a “KH” adornment in honor of Vice President Kamala Harris, the convention has not been lacking in excitement. Attendees have been seen sporting pearls, stars, and pantsuits reminiscent of Harris’s signature style, while off-site parties like “Hotties for Harris” have added a touch of humor to the proceedings.

Photographer Landon Nordeman, who has been capturing the essence of the convention for The New York Times Styles desk, noted the contrast in fashion between the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. According to Nordeman, Republicans tend to express their political identity more exuberantly through their attire, while Democrats opt for a more reserved look.

Despite the differences in fashion, one prevailing trend at the DNC this year has been a focus on encouraging people to vote. Instead of traditional accessories featuring political figures like Harris, attendees have been seen sporting pins, necklaces, and signs urging others to participate in the democratic process.

While both conventions share a patriotic color scheme of red, white, and blue, Nordeman observed that the DNC leans more towards blue than red. Overall, the atmosphere at the Democratic National Convention has been described as a celebration of democracy, with a diverse array of fashion choices and a strong emphasis on civic engagement.
