Sir Elton John made a triumphant return to the spotlight at the Toronto International Film Festival, despite battling a severe eye infection that has left him with limited vision in one eye. The music legend, accompanied by his husband David Furnish, arrived on the red carpet in a buggy, smiling and waving at the cameras.
The 77-year-old was in Toronto for the world premiere of the documentary film “Elton John: Never Too Late,” which looks back on his life leading up to his farewell show at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium in 2022. The film is set to premiere on Disney+ in December.
In a recent Instagram post, Sir Elton shared that he has been spending the summer recuperating at home, expressing gratitude for the medical team and his family who have been caring for him during his recovery. Despite the slow healing process, he remains positive about his progress.
The Toronto International Film Festival also saw Jennifer Lopez in attendance for the premiere of “Unstoppable,” a biographical sports film she stars in. The film is produced by Oscar-winners Matt Damon and Lopez’s estranged husband Ben Affleck, who did not attend the event. The couple, who are reportedly divorcing after two years of marriage, have yet to comment on the news of their split.
Sir Elton John’s resilience in the face of adversity and the star-studded lineup at the festival made for an unforgettable event, showcasing the power of perseverance and the magic of cinema.
