The Broadway revival of “Cabaret” celebrated its opening night with twin galas over the weekend, drawing in a star-studded crowd and leaving audiences in awe.

Actress Bernadette Peters, who attended the performance, described the event as a “Happening,” setting the stage for an unforgettable evening at the August Wilson Theater. The production, set in a Berlin nightclub in the 1930s, features Eddie Redmayne as the Master of Ceremonies and Gayle Rankin as the star singer, Sally Bowles.

Redmayne, who won an Olivier Award for his role in the London production, expressed his excitement about bringing the show to Broadway, calling it a dream come true for British actors.

Unlike a typical Broadway show, “Cabaret” includes a preshow that begins 75 minutes before curtain, immersing guests in a world of glitz and glamour. From dancers in ruffled collars to performers behind beaded curtains, the lobby was transformed into a lively spectacle.

During the nearly three-hour performance, Redmayne and Rankin wowed the audience with their renditions of classic songs like “Wilkommen” and “Cabaret,” earning thunderous applause and foot stomping.

The festivities continued after the show with a cocktail reception that took over every floor of the theater, where guests mingled and enjoyed trays of mac and cheese balls and mini champagne bottles. Celebrities like B.J. Novak and Billy Porter were spotted in the crowd, adding to the excitement of the evening.

As the night came to a close, some guests headed to The Times Square Edition Hotel for an after-party at the Paradise Club, where they danced and celebrated into the early hours of the morning.

Overall, the revival of “Cabaret” proved to be a must-see event on Broadway, leaving audiences and celebrities alike in awe of the spectacular production.
