Stand Up America Launches Seven-Figure Campaign to Highlight Supreme Court’s Role in Presidential Election

In a bold move to shift voter attention towards the significance of the Supreme Court in the upcoming presidential election, the Democratic-leaning group Stand Up America has announced the launch of a seven-figure campaign. With a strong emphasis on key issues such as abortion, gun safety, and voting rights, the $1 million campaign aims to educate voters on the critical role the high court plays in shaping the country’s future.

The campaign kicks off on the second anniversary of the Dobbs v. Jackson decision, which overturned the right to an abortion and sparked widespread political turmoil. Stand Up America is determined to harness the energy surrounding the Supreme Court that has historically favored Republicans, with the hope of mobilizing Democratic voters to prioritize the court in their decision-making process.

With the support of prominent figures like actress Barbra Streisand and TV host Andy Cohen, as well as social media influencers, doctors, lawyers, voters, and politicians, the campaign will utilize a website and targeted digital ad campaign in key battleground states. The goal is to raise awareness about the potential impact of the election on the Supreme Court, as four of the nine justices will be in their 70s by 2025, presenting an opportunity for the next president to shape the court’s direction.

President Biden has also weighed in on the importance of the Supreme Court, highlighting the potential for two new Supreme Court nominees in the next administration. In contrast, former President Trump has focused on his role in nominating conservative justices, including those crucial to overturning Roe v. Wade.

Internal polling conducted by Stand Up America revealed that a significant majority of voters consider a presidential candidate’s Supreme Court appointments when making their decision. The group plans to launch a get-out-the-vote operation, urging voters to pledge to be a “Supreme Court voter” and emphasizing the far-reaching implications of the court’s decisions on issues ranging from abortion to gun safety.

Christina Harvey, the executive director of Stand Up America, expressed concern about the current state of affairs, stating, “Cases related to abortion, marriage equality, gun safety, voting rights, the climate crisis, anything you could think of, we think that’s not given enough focus.” As the campaign gains momentum, the group hopes to empower voters to recognize the critical role the Supreme Court plays in shaping the future of the nation.
