The president of a Homeowners Association in Palm Bay, Florida, found himself on the wrong side of the law after allegedly pulling a gun on three kids fishing at a lake in his subdivision. Kyle Patrick Tate, 57, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief and grand theft following the incident at Stillwater Lakes.
According to court documents, Tate approached the kids while holding a firearm and claimed they were on his property, despite the fact that the land belonged to the HOA. He proceeded to confiscate their fishing equipment, including rods, reels, tackle boxes, and even a phone, before throwing the items into the woods and causing damage.
The kids estimated the value of the stolen property to be around $3,700, with the phone alone valued at $1,500. Tate was taken into custody on April 14 and now faces charges of grand theft and criminal mischief, both classified as third-degree felonies in Florida.
Tate posted a $5,000 bond and was released from jail. The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with many questioning the behavior of the HOA president. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
