Israeli special forces rescued four hostages, including Russian-Israeli Andrey Kozlov, from Hamas captivity in central Gaza in a dramatic operation. The parents of Andrey, Eugenia and Michael Kozlov, described the rescue as a “miracle” in an emotional interview with the BBC.
The hostages, who were subjected to months of attempted brainwashing by their captors, were unsure if the rescue was to save or harm them. Andrey, along with three others, had been abducted from the Nova music festival where he worked as a security guard.
After being rescued, Andrey appeared to be himself and even managed to joke just hours after his release. The Kozlovs did not go into details about the rescue operation but expressed their relief and gratitude for their son’s safe return.
The family is now focused on helping Andrey readjust to life back home after 245 days in captivity. They are also advocating for the release of other hostages still held in Gaza. Despite the ordeal, the Kozlovs remain hopeful and grateful for Andrey’s safe return.
