Political Opposites Find Love and Harmony in Washington D.C.

Caroline Marie Darmody and Jared Joseph Jones may have started off on opposite sides of the political aisle, but their love story proves that differences can be bridged and harmony can be found, even in the divisive world of Washington D.C.

The pair first met during an orientation session for a staff delegation trip to India back in February 2016. Ms. Darmody, a legislative assistant for Democratic Representative Joseph P. Kennedy III, was initially skeptical of Mr. Jones, who worked for Republican Senator Shelley Moore Capito. However, as they toured India together, Ms. Darmody was charmed by Mr. Jones’s jokes and personality.

Their relationship blossomed upon their return to Washington, with a successful first date at Bier Baron Tavern in Dupont Circle. However, the challenges of a long-distance relationship loomed large when Ms. Darmody was accepted to Harvard Law School. Despite their political differences and the strain of distance, they continued to date until they ultimately broke up in 2018.

Ms. Darmody’s quest for love led her to go on 50 first dates with liberal men, but she soon realized that Jared was truly one of a kind. His unwavering support for her dreams and ambitions set him apart from the rest. When he reached out to her in 2022, she knew that he was the one.

Their love story culminated in a beautiful wedding at the historic Army and Navy Club, where two worlds collided in a celebration of love and unity. Despite their different backgrounds and political beliefs, Caroline and Jared found common ground and built a life together in Georgetown.

Now, both successful in their respective careers, Caroline and Jared serve as a shining example of how love can conquer all, even in a city as politically charged as Washington D.C. Their story is a reminder that true love knows no boundaries and can bring people together in the most unexpected ways.
