Chun Wang, the co-founder of Bitcoin mining pool f2pool, is making history as he prepares to command SpaceX’s first human spaceflight mission to explore Earth’s polar regions from orbit. Wang, who has been mining Bitcoin since 2011, has been diligently preparing for this mission for the past 2.5 years and has been deeply involved in every aspect of the planning and execution.
Named after the ship that first reached Earth’s Arctic and Antarctic regions, the mission, called Fram2, will be led by Wang, an entrepreneur and adventurer from Malta. SpaceX announced that Wang aims to highlight the crew’s explorational spirit, bring wonder and curiosity to the public, and showcase how technology can push the boundaries of Earth exploration.
Fram2 will be the first human spaceflight mission to fly over and explore Earth’s polar regions from orbit. Wang expressed his excitement for the mission, stating, “This mission represents a new chapter in space exploration. I increasingly believe that someday we will reach Mars, and it may be a person or a company, not a nation, who gets there.”
Joining Wang on this groundbreaking mission are adventurers from around the world, including Norway, Australia, and Germany. The crew will spend 3 to 5 days observing the polar regions from Dragon’s cupola at an altitude of 425 to 450 km. They will study phenomena such as auroras and STEVE (Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement) and conduct research to better understand the effects of spaceflight on the human body and gain insights into space physics and atmospheric science.
This mission marks a significant milestone in private space exploration and promises to bring new discoveries and insights about Earth’s polar regions. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting journey into the unknown.
