A naked knitted figurine of Coldplay singer Chris Martin has made its way to the Glastonbury Festival, in hopes of meeting the musician himself. Crafted by avid knitter Sandra Witcombe, the doll is a tribute to the renowned singer, pianist, and co-founder of Coldplay.
The doll, which took Witcombe 10 hours to make, is complete with intricate details such as a necklace, earrings, and a bracelet. It is now making its rounds at the festival grounds, with the goal of catching the attention of Chris Martin during Coldplay’s performance on the Pyramid Stage on Saturday night.
Witcombe, along with a group of fellow crafters, previously created the “Hive Five” knitted figures that gained popularity in a window display at The Hive Café in Shepton Mallet, Somerset. The dolls have been used to raise funds for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, with around £5,000 raised for the charity so far.
While the Chris Martin doll is not intended as a fundraising strategy, Witcombe hopes it will bring a smile to the singer’s face and spread joy at the summer festival. She has even sent a letter along with the doll to festival organizer Emily Eavis, in the hopes that Chris Martin will take a photograph with it.
As the festival unfolds, all eyes are on whether the knitted tribute will make its way onto the stage with Coldplay. Witcombe eagerly awaits to see if her creation will have a surprise appearance during the band’s performance, bringing a touch of whimsy and creativity to the iconic music event.
