The disappearance of TV presenter Michael Mosley has sparked a massive search and rescue operation on the Greek island of Symi. New CCTV footage has emerged showing Mosley in the main street of Pedi, less than half an hour after he left a beach to go on a walk.
Mosley, known for his TV programmes and podcast, was reported missing after leaving Agios Nikolaos beach on Wednesday. The CCTV footage captured him holding an umbrella in the town’s main street, suggesting he completed a walk to the nearby village of Pedi.
A search and rescue operation involving divers, helicopters, and drones is ongoing, with authorities now excluding the possibility of Mosley coming to harm while walking between the beach and Pedi. His phone was found where he was staying with his wife, who reported him missing.
The search party, consisting of 25 people including police officers, divers, volunteers, and firefighters, is being assisted by helicopters, drones, and a police sniffer dog. Mosley’s family, including his three adult sons and one daughter, have flown to the island to join the search efforts.
Local residents are shocked and perplexed by Mosley’s disappearance, with some speculating that he may have fallen into the sea. The rugged terrain and sweltering weather conditions on the island are making the search operation even more challenging.
The Foreign Office has confirmed they are supporting the family of the missing British man and are in contact with local authorities. As the search continues, friends and colleagues of Mosley are expressing their concern and hoping for his safe return.
