BWF: A historic silver for Kidambi

Srikanth Kidambi made history on Sunday, December 19, 2021. Kidambi became the first Indian male player to win a silver medal in the BWF championship. After Kidambi beat Lakshya Sen in the semi finals, he became the first Indian male player to reach the finals of BWF. He faced Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew, who was also a first-time finalist.

Depsite taking the lead in the first game of the match by 9-3, Kidambi lost the match with 15-21 and after Loh Kean Yew had regained his attitude and composure, he gave a tough competition to Kidami while Kidambi wasn’t leaving anything to fight back. The second game was pretty neck to neck and went on for a long time at the score of 18-18. However, the game finally ended when Loh took over 2 points and bagged the gold medal.

Lakshya Sen became youngest male player of India to win the bronze medal for India in the BWF tournament.
