Born Donna Mae Tjaden in Tacoma, Washington, on September 16, 1922, Janis Paige made a name for herself in the entertainment industry with her talent and charm. She starred as Babe Williams in “The Pajama Game” alongside John Raitt, earning critical acclaim and three Tony Awards for the production in 1955.
Despite being replaced by Doris Day in the movie adaptation of “The Pajama Game,” Janis Paige continued to shine on Broadway with four other starring roles, including replacing Angela Lansbury in “Mame” in 1968.
