Phillip Schofield, the former host of ITV’s This Morning, is set to make a comeback on the small screen in a new TV series called Cast Away on Channel 5. The 62-year-old will be stranded on an island off Madagascar for 10 days, with no food, no water, and no crew.

In an Instagram post, Schofield shared a glimpse of his upcoming adventure, writing, “Now you know how I spent my summer! Alone for 10 days, no food, no water, no crew. My story of survival, both on a desert island and off it.”

The three-part reality show, premiering on Monday at 21:00 BST, will showcase Schofield fending for himself without a camera crew or production team. He has documented his journey using a handheld camera, body camera, and a sound pack.

Schofield’s departure from This Morning in May 2023, following reports of a rift with co-presenter Holly Willoughby and his admission of an affair with a younger male colleague, has kept him out of the spotlight. However, he is now ready to share his story in this new series.

According to The Sun, Schofield had turned down several offers before deciding to take on this challenge. A friend of his mentioned that he wanted to share his story in an unedited and honest way, showing viewers a different side of him.

Channel 5 describes Cast Away as an “epic study of solitude and mental fortitude,” capturing the raw experience of physical survival and the emotional toll of solitude. Previous celebrities on the show include Joanna Lumley and Ruby Wax.

Schofield’s appearance on Cast Away promises to be a captivating journey of self-discovery and resilience, offering viewers a unique insight into the limits of endurance and the human spirit.
