President Biden to Address Antisemitism Concerns at U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum Event
President Biden is set to deliver a keynote address at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Days of Remembrance on Tuesday, where he will address the rise of antisemitism in the United States and abroad. The speech comes in the wake of the Oct. 7 terrorist attack on Israel, which has sparked concerns about antisemitism and led to protests on American college campuses.
During the address, Biden is expected to honor the memory of the six million Jews killed in the Holocaust and recommit to fighting against antisemitism. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated that Biden will also speak about the alarming rise in antisemitism since the Oct. 7 attack, particularly on campuses and in communities across the country.
The Biden administration has faced criticism for its support of Israel’s war against Hamas, with some protesters labeling the president as “Genocide Joe.” In response to the protests, the administration will release new guidance to schools and colleges outlining examples of antisemitic discrimination that could lead to investigations under the Civil Rights Act.
Despite supporting the right to protest, Biden has denounced violence and harassment targeting Jewish students on campuses. He emphasized that there is no place for antisemitism in America and that actions like vandalism and forcing the cancellation of events are not acceptable.
As the president prepares to address these critical issues, the nation awaits his words on how to combat antisemitism and ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals, regardless of their background.
