The upcoming BBC election debate is set to be a showdown between Conservative Cabinet minister Penny Mordaunt and Labour’s deputy leader Angela Rayner. This highly anticipated event will feature representatives from the seven biggest parties in Great Britain, including Daisy Cooper for the Liberal Democrats, Nigel Farage for Reform UK, Stephen Flynn for the Scottish National Party, Carla Denyer for the Green Party, and Rhun ap Iorwerth for Plaid Cymru.

Hosted by Mishal Husain, the debate will be broadcast on Friday, June 7th, from 19:30 to 21:00 BST on BBC One and BBC News in the UK. Members of the public and the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions to the participants, and each candidate will give a 30-second closing statement at the end of the debate.

This event kicks off a series of BBC programmes covering the election, including a Question Time programme on June 20th and a head-to-head debate between the prime minister and the Labour leader on June 26th. Additional dedicated debates will take place in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales, with interviews of party leaders on Panorama specials.

All programmes will be broadcast on BBC One, BBC News, and local radio, with British Sign Language and subtitles available. The election is scheduled to take place on July 4th. Stay tuned for more engaging TV events in the coming weeks as the election campaign heats up.
