The latest and final installment in Banksy’s surprise animal art trail across London has been revealed on the shutters of London Zoo. The artwork depicts a gorilla lifting the shutter to release a sea lion and birds, with other animals looking on from the inside. This is the ninth Banksy creation to appear in as many days in the capital, following a series of animal-themed murals that have captivated the city.
London Zoo’s animal operations manager, Daniel Simmonds, expressed his excitement at Banksy choosing their location for his latest work, calling it “absolutely brilliant.” The zoo has taken steps to preserve the artwork, including installing a barrier to protect it and considering adding perspex for further protection.
Despite the removal or defacing of some of Banksy’s previous works in the series, London Zoo is committed to safeguarding this latest creation. The zoo spokesperson confirmed that the artwork will be preserved and possibly relocated within the site in the future.
This final piece in Banksy’s animal art trail has drawn crowds and attention from Banksy followers, with many eagerly awaiting each new installment. The artist’s mysterious and unexpected creations have sparked excitement and joy in the city, with people gathering to admire and photograph the murals each day.
