A fourth Banksy artwork revealed in London in as many days appears to have been stolen, adding a dramatic twist to the mysterious street artist’s latest series of creations.
The latest piece, featuring the silhouette of a wolf howling at the moon on a satellite dish in Rye Lane, Peckham, south London, was unveiled on Thursday. However, the Banksy press team informed the BBC that they believed the artwork had been stolen.
Witnesses reported seeing men dismantling the satellite dish and removing the artwork. Tom Kellow, who witnessed the incident, described how the men became aggressive when he tried to film them, with one even attempting to throw his phone onto the roof.
This theft comes after Banksy revealed three other black silhouette compositions around London earlier in the week, including monkeys on a railway bridge in Brick Lane, elephants in Chelsea, and a goat near Kew Bridge in Richmond.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed they had received reports of a stolen satellite dish containing artwork but no arrests have been made yet. The series of artworks is expected to conclude by the end of the week, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the next move from the elusive artist.
