The National Park Service (NPS) is on the hunt for a couple who allegedly stole artifacts from Canyonlands National Park in Utah. The agency is seeking the public’s help in tracking down the suspects involved in the “archeological theft” incident at Cave Spring Cowboy Camp.
According to the NPS press release, the couple entered a closed area of the camp on March 23 and removed artifacts from a cabinet, handling historic harnesses in a way that could potentially damage them. Park rangers are now asking for tips from anyone who may have been in the area or can help identify the suspects.
National parks are described as “some of the most special, treasured, and protected” areas in the country, and visitors are expected to follow park laws and regulations to preserve the natural and cultural resources for future generations.
If you have any information regarding this incident, you can contact law enforcement park rangers at 888-653-0009 or email your tips. Let’s work together to protect our national parks and ensure that these special places remain preserved for all to enjoy.
