Former President Trump made headlines at his recent rally in Atlanta when he invited Georgia activist Michaelah Montgomery on stage. Trump recounted how Montgomery had approached him at a restaurant, thanking him for his support of historically Black colleges and universities.
Describing Montgomery as “incredible” with a “tremendous future,” Trump pledged to help her in any way he could before giving her the podium. Montgomery, a conservative activist and founder of Conserve the Culture, urged the audience to spread their message beyond their own circles.
The rally came shortly after Trump faced criticism for comments he made about Vice President Kamala Harris’ racial identity at the National Association of Black Journalists convention. Despite the controversy, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson praised Trump for “answering tough questions” at the event.
Montgomery’s passionate speech and call to action for HBCU students to embrace conservative values added a unique and engaging element to the rally. With her organization, Conserve the Culture, Montgomery is working to mobilize young people to spread their message beyond their own communities.
