Controversial influencer Andrew Tate, known for his misogynistic views and previous legal troubles, has been taken into custody by Romanian police for questioning in connection with new allegations against him. Along with his brother Tristan, the Tate brothers were detained by Romania’s serious crime agency, DIICOT, as their home in Ilfov, near Bucharest, was searched.
The internet personality, who was already facing charges of rape and human trafficking, may now also be charged with sex with and trafficking of underage individuals, as well as money laundering and attempting to influence witnesses, according to prosecutors. Despite denying all previous charges, the brothers have been remanded in custody for 24 hours as authorities continue their investigation.
Andrew Tate, who has a large following on social media, defiantly shouted to reporters that the prosecutors were “desperate” and dismissed the new allegations as “pathetic”. Their lawyer stated that they are awaiting further legal proceedings to determine if they will be detained longer, placed under house arrest, or released.
The Tate brothers, former kickboxers and dual UK-US nationals, are accused of exploiting women through an adult content business that allegedly operated as a criminal group. They are also wanted in the UK for separate sexual offenses. The ongoing legal saga surrounding the Tate brothers has garnered significant attention and controversy, with Andrew Tate maintaining his innocence and claiming a conspiracy against him.
