Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff Calls on President Biden to Drop Out of 2024 Race
In a surprising turn of events, powerful Democratic California Rep. Adam Schiff has called on President Biden to drop out of the 2024 race. Schiff, who was selected as one of the “top two” Senate primary winners in California, expressed serious concerns about Biden’s ability to defeat Donald Trump in the upcoming election.
Schiff, who will be facing off against Republican candidate Steve Garvey in November, praised Biden’s accomplishments but emphasized that the nation is at a crossroads. He urged Biden to pass the torch and secure his legacy by allowing someone else to defeat Trump in the election.
This announcement makes Schiff the 20th Congressional Democrat to urge Biden to exit the race, making him the most prominent House Democrat to do so. Other members of Congress who have called on Biden to drop out include Democratic Reps. Earl Blumenauer, Ed Case, Angie Craig, and many others.
Schiff’s statement comes on the heels of a report that he privately told donors, “I think if he is our nominee, I think we lose,” referring to Biden. The Biden campaign has not yet provided a comment on Schiff’s remarks.
As the 2024 campaign trail heats up, all eyes will be on how Biden responds to this call to drop out of the race. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
