Actor from Pirates of the Caribbean franchise dies in tragic shark attack

The entertainment world is mourning the loss of Pirates of the Caribbean actor Tamayo Perry, who tragically died after being attacked by a shark while surfing in Hawaii.

The 49-year-old actor, who also worked as a lifeguard, was surfing at Malaekahana Beach when the shark attack occurred on Sunday afternoon. Despite the efforts of emergency services and paramedics who rushed to the scene, Perry was pronounced dead after being brought to shore by jet ski.

Perry was known for his role in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, where he starred alongside Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, and Geoffrey Rush. He also had roles in popular TV shows like Lost and Hawaii Five-0, as well as in movies like Blue Crush and Charlie’s Angels 2.

Born on the east side of Oahu, Perry had been a professional surfer for over a decade and was well-respected in the surfing community. He described himself as someone who could “bang it out with the world’s best” and had a deep love for the ocean.

Honolulu Ocean Safety chief Kurt Lager described Perry as “a lifeguard loved by all” and said he was known for his infectious personality and love for others. Mayor Rick Blangiardi also expressed his condolences, calling Perry’s death “a tragic loss” and highlighting his contributions to the ocean safety team.
