Title: New York Jets’ Haason Reddick Requests Trade, Teammates Support Decision

Despite not yet playing a snap for the New York Jets and already requesting a trade, Haason Reddick’s teammates have his back.

The edge rusher asked the Jets to trade him on Monday, just months after being acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles, as the two sides have been unable to agree on a new contract throughout the offseason. Reddick’s Week 1 status is now officially in question, with Jets general manager Joe Douglas releasing a statement saying the team wouldn’t trade him.

Aaron Rodgers, quarterback for the Jets, expressed understanding for Reddick’s desire to fight for what he wants, stating, “Obviously we’d love for him to be here, but we don’t judge him for trying to do what’s best for him.” Rodgers also encouraged Reddick to stay with the team, calling it a “fun ride.”

The Jets traded a conditional 2026 third-round draft pick to the Eagles for Reddick, with the potential for the pick to become a second-round pick based on Reddick’s performance. Reddick had 11 sacks in 17 games last season, while former Jet Bryce Huff, who was let go in free agency, had 10 sacks.

Despite expectations of a contract agreement between Reddick and the Jets, no progress has been made less than four weeks before the season begins. Fox News’ Chantz Martin contributed to this report.
