Renowned Artists Stanley Whitney and Marina Adams Collaborate with Designers to Create Dream Home in the Hamptons
In a tale of artistic collaboration and friendship, painter Stanley Whitney and artist Marina Adams have found their dream home in the Hamptons with the help of designers Jack Ceglic and Manuel Fernandez-Casteleiro. The couple, who spent 50 years living and working in a loft in downtown Manhattan, decided to make the move to Long Island’s eastern end in search of more space and light.
After visiting Ceglic and Fernandez-Casteleiro’s own house in East Hampton, the couple fell in love with the open interiors and natural surroundings, leading them to purchase a two-acre plot of land in Bridgehampton. The designers were tasked with creating a dwelling that felt like a city loft set in the countryside, with two bedrooms, guest quarters, and a pair of studios.
The result is a stunning 3,240-square-foot main building with two 2,300-square-foot studios, each reflecting elements of Ceglic and Fernandez-Casteleiro’s minimalist styles. The main building features small rooms dedicated to specific purposes, such as a study, bedrooms, and a professional-grade kitchen, all connected by a central open space dubbed the “plaza.”
The highlight of the project is the custom-built studios for Whitney and Adams, designed as sanctuaries for each artist to work in. With ample natural light and thoughtful design elements, the studios provide the perfect space for creative inspiration.
As the artists settle into their new home, surrounded by nature and light, they reflect on the journey that brought them to this point. With a collection of artworks that tell the story of their lives and a space that embodies their shared passions for art, food, and music, Whitney and Adams have found a place where creativity and friendship thrive.
In the end, it’s not just the light that draws them to the Hamptons, but the company they keep and the memories they create together. As they share a laugh over tea and cake with their friends, the artists know they have found a place where they can truly call home.
