Title: Schloss Fuschl in the Austrian Alps Reopens as a Luxury Hotel

In the heart of the Austrian Alps, the iconic Schloss Fuschl is set to reopen on July 1 as a luxurious hotel after undergoing a restoration by Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. The castle, which dates back to 1461, served as a hunting lodge for the Prince-Archbishops of Salzburg for four centuries.

Located on a picturesque glacial lake just 20 minutes outside of Salzburg, Schloss Fuschl boasts 98 guest rooms, including six stand-alone chalets. The property features six restaurants and bars, indoor and outdoor infinity pools, a spa with three saunas and eight treatment rooms, and access to Lake Fuschl for fishing expeditions, boat trips, and nature walks led by an herbalist.

While the castle may not have been home to fairy-tale princesses like Cinderella or Rapunzel, it did host a movie princess in the 1950s. The German-French actress Romy Schneider filmed the “Sisi” trilogy about the young Elisabeth of Austria at Schloss Fuschl.

Guests can indulge in afternoon tea at the Sisi Teesalon, which offers a wide range of homemade pastries, including the famous Schloss Fuschl Torte, a chocolate-hazelnut truffle cake created in the house kitchen over 30 years ago.

Rates at Schloss Fuschl start at approximately $695 per night. The reopening of this historic castle as a luxury hotel promises a fairy-tale experience in the heart of the Austrian Alps.
