Mr. Abu Tueima, a former taxi driver, now finds himself living in a tent inside a United Nations-run school in Khan Younis with his large family, including his late first wife’s children.
The situation in Khan Younis is dire, with limited relief supplies available for the thousands of Palestinians who have fled there in recent days. Mr. Abu Tueima expressed his frustration and despair, stating, “No one here helped us with anything. Life here is not fair at all for us; we want to live in peace like others.”
Israel’s offensive in Rafah has further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, cutting off aid and essential supplies from reaching those in need. The lack of fuel has threatened basic services for over 2 million people in Gaza, with the United Nations warning of a looming famine.
