The highly anticipated Ethereum layer-2 scaling network, Blast, has finally announced the launch date for its upcoming BLAST token airdrop. The network, founded by the creator of the popular NFT marketplace Blur, has set the date for June 26, slightly later than initially expected.

In a recent tweet, the official Blast network account apologized for the delay, stating that the airdrop allocation would be increased to make up for the extended timeline. The network also revealed that there would be two more distributions of Blast Gold points before the token launch, aimed at rewarding creators of decentralized apps (dapps) building on the network.

Half of the token airdrop will be allocated to developers through Blast Gold, while the other half will be distributed to early users who bridged funds to the network before the Blast mainnet went live in February. Users had bridged over $2.3 billion worth of crypto in anticipation of earning points towards the upcoming airdrop.

Blast’s user-centric approach, similar to that of Blur, has garnered significant interest from the crypto community. The NFT marketplace Blur distributed over $818 million worth of tokens to traders in 2023, making it one of the most valuable airdrops of the year.

The momentum around Blast’s early apps, games, and tokens, including Fantasy Top and Pacmoon, has been steadily increasing. Fantasy Top, a viral NFT game based on Crypto Twitter influencers, has been driving a surge in NFT trading volume, while Pacmoon, a meme coin incentivizing viral content creation, recently hit an all-time high price.

With the Blast airdrop set to launch on June 26, crypto enthusiasts and developers alike are eagerly anticipating the distribution of BLAST tokens and the potential rewards that come with it. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in the world of decentralized finance.
