A 26-year-old suspect has been arrested by Dutch authorities in connection with the ZKasino online gambling scam, with assets worth over $12 million confiscated.
The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, is facing charges of fraud, embezzlement, and money laundering following investigations by the Fiscal Information and Investigation Service (FIOD).
ZKasino, a blockchain-based gambling platform, attracted investors with promises of quick returns on investments. However, suspicions were raised when the platform failed to deliver on its promises and transferred all deposited Ether to the Lido staking protocol.
Furthermore, the situation escalated when ZKasino claimed to have secured $350 million in Series A funding, but one of the supposed investors, Big Brain VC, denied any involvement and labeled the platform as potentially fraudulent.
The investigation into the ZKasino scam is ongoing, with Dutch authorities holding the suspect for further questioning and evidence gathering. In related news, “Bitcoin Jesus” Roger Ver has also been arrested on charges of tax evasion and mail fraud.
As the case continues to unfold, investors are urged to exercise caution and due diligence when considering investment opportunities in the cryptocurrency and blockchain space.
