Love and Art: A Story of Collaboration, Friendship, and Marriage
In 2009, Tusia Dabrowska and Wiktor Maria Freifeld, both Polish and Jewish artists, crossed paths in Warsaw. What started as a potential creative collaboration blossomed into a deep friendship that eventually led to love and marriage.
Despite living in different countries and being in other relationships, Dabrowska and Freifeld remained close friends, talking on the phone daily for four years. Their bond grew stronger in 2013 when they went on a date to see an open rehearsal of “The Magic Flute” in Warsaw, sparking a romantic connection.
After years of being separated by the Atlantic Ocean, the couple finally reunited in Berlin in 2020. Living and working together on a documentary film about the refugee crisis, they realized they couldn’t bear to be apart anymore.
Their journey took a significant turn when Freifeld was accepted to Yale in 2023. With Dabrowska pregnant and the desire to build a future together, they decided to tie the knot. In a beautiful ceremony at Greenpoint Hall in Brooklyn, they exchanged vows surrounded by friends and family, blending Polish and Jewish traditions seamlessly.
The couple’s love story is a testament to the power of art, friendship, and the willingness to overcome obstacles to be together. As they embark on this new chapter as husband and wife, Dabrowska and Freifeld are ready to face whatever challenges come their way, hand in hand.
