Celine Dion Reflects on Wedding Day Mishap with Tiara That Landed Her in Hospital
Celine Dion, the iconic singer known for her powerful vocals and timeless hits, recently opened up about a not-so-glamorous moment from the happiest day of her life – her wedding day. During a video interview with Vogue, Dion recalled how the elaborate seven-pound headpiece she wore on her wedding day, adorned with over 2,000 Swarovski crystals, landed her in the hospital.
“I had an immediate facelift,” Dion shared in the interview. “I start to walk, and I go like, ‘Am I gonna make it? Am I going to make it to my future husband?’ But like I said, I’m going to run to you. I did. So all night, all great, people happy, but when we removed the tiara, I had a cut, because the pressure was too much.”
The morning after her wedding, Dion woke up to find a bump the size of an egg on her forehead, making her go cross-eyed. Despite the mishap, Dion joked with her husband that he had no choice but to deal with her now that they were married, saying, “It’s too late now. We’re married.”
Dion, who was married to René Angélil for 22 years until his passing in 2016, has no regrets about her extravagant wedding day. She expressed that she would have gone even bigger if she could, as the immense love she felt for her husband overshadowed any discomfort she experienced.
Reflecting on her relationship with Angélil, Dion shared, “He brought [out] the best of me. He really did.” The couple first met when Dion was 12 and Angélil was 38, and their love story blossomed over the years, culminating in a beautiful marriage and three children together.
Despite Angélil’s passing, Dion continues to honor his memory and legacy, sharing heartfelt messages on social media and keeping his spirit alive in her heart and in the lives of their children.
As fans of Celine Dion, we can’t help but admire her resilience, love, and unwavering devotion to her late husband. Her story serves as a reminder that true love knows no bounds, even in the face of unexpected challenges.
