Michigan Woman Missing Since 2017 Found in Motel Room After Police Hear Screams
A Michigan woman who had been missing since 2017 was discovered in a motel room in Inkster, Michigan, after police heard her screaming and crying. The woman, now in her 30s, managed to call her stepmother on Monday and inform her that she was being held against her will at the Evergreen Motel.
Detectives and troopers responded to the motel after receiving the call and heard the woman’s cries coming from a room. They made forcible entry and found her alone. The woman was then transported to Beaumont Dearborn for a medical evaluation and to be interviewed by detectives. She has since been reunited with her family and is receiving counseling.
During a search of the motel room, police discovered drugs, a cell phone, and a gun. While a suspect has been identified, no arrests have been made yet. The Michigan State Police’s Trafficking and Abduction Group is investigating to determine if this was a case of human trafficking.
Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw stated, “We’ll kind of look at what’s next, right… interview her if a crime did take place such as human trafficking or is it a domestic violence situation or is it different. I don’t want to use the word kidnapping like somebody grabbed her and took her to that place. It may have started out as a relationship that turns into being held against your will and being trafficked.”
The shocking discovery has left the community on edge as they await further updates on the investigation.
