Vacheron Constantin Unveils Groundbreaking Chinese Perpetual Calendar Watch
In a world where technology is constantly advancing, Vacheron Constantin has taken watchmaking to a whole new level with their latest creation – a Chinese perpetual calendar watch with an astonishing 63 complications.
The highlight of this masterpiece is the Chinese perpetual calendar, which not only boasts 11 functions but also displays the date of the Lunar New Year for the next 20 years on a disk at 6 o’clock on the front dial. To accommodate the New Year date up to 2200, the brand had to include eight additional disks, making it a truly unique timepiece.
But that’s not all – the watch also features a Gregorian perpetual calendar that is accurate up to 2100, as well as a Chinese agricultural perpetual calendar based on a solar calendar. Together, these three perpetual calendars make up 20 of the watch’s impressive 63 complications.
Other notable features of the watch include a split-seconds column-wheel chronograph, six alarm functions, eight chiming functions, nine astronomical complications, and a world time function. And to ensure precise timekeeping, the watch is equipped with a three-axis tourbillon that counteracts the effect of gravity on accuracy.
According to Mr. Selmoni, the precision of the three-axis tourbillon regulator has been tested rigorously, with an accuracy of plus or minus two seconds a day – a remarkable feat considering the watch has 2,877 components.
Despite its groundbreaking design and functionality, Vacheron Constantin has chosen not to file a patent for the Chinese perpetual calendar, citing a desire to keep the details confidential.
In the words of Mr. Selmoni, “When applying for patents, it is essential to give a very precise description of the innovation… yet you are also providing the technical details.”
With its innovative features and meticulous craftsmanship, the Vacheron Constantin Chinese perpetual calendar watch is truly a marvel in the world of horology.
