The New Museum’s Spring Gala and MoMA Black Arts Council Benefit were the places to be for art-world fixtures in New York City this week.
At the Spring Gala, held at Cipriani South Street, actress Tracee Ellis Ross stole the show in a sky-blue bodysuit under a black-and-blue sleeveless dress. The event honored artists Mickalene Thomas and George Condo, raising $2.1 million for the New Museum. Guests included Leonardo DiCaprio, Cindy Sherman, and Jeff Koons, among others.
Meanwhile, the Museum of Modern Art hosted the Black Arts Council Benefit, which helps acquire pieces by Black artists for the museum. This year’s event honored artist Glenn Ligon and scholar Sherrilyn Ifill, raising around $500,000. Attendees enjoyed cocktails, dinner, and a performance by Cautious Clay & the Community.
Both events showcased the vibrant cultural ecosystem in New York City and celebrated the contributions of artists and patrons alike.
