Beachgoer captures stunning moment of alligator chomping on fish at Texas beach
A beachgoer recently had a close encounter with nature when he captured a video of an alligator feasting on a fish at Sea Rim State Park near Sabine Pass, Texas. Hunter Ham, who was driving by the beach with his family, spotted the reptile on March 23 and quickly took out his camera to document the rare sight.
In the video, the alligator can be seen standing on the beach, devouring a bull redfish. Ham, an avid fishing enthusiast, was able to identify the type of fish based on its length, eyes, and mouth. He marveled at the sight, calling the alligator a “brute” as it enjoyed its meal in the sun.
While alligators are typically found in freshwater habitats, Ham explained that this particular gator likely ventured into the saltwater briefly to rid itself of parasites. He described the animal as a “chill dude” who seemed unfazed by the presence of humans as it basked in the sun and enjoyed its meal.
Sea Rim State Park, where the encounter took place, is located near the border of Texas and Louisiana. Ham, who has visited the beach many times before, expressed his appreciation for the area’s unique beauty and the opportunity to witness such a rare sight.
The video of the alligator chomping on the fish has since gone viral, attracting attention from wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Ham’s close encounter with the majestic creature serves as a reminder of the diverse wildlife that can be found in the coastal regions of Texas.
