South Carolina Woman Charged with Killing Bride in DUI Crash Released from Jail Less Than a Year Later
Jamie Komoroski, a 26-year-old woman from South Carolina, has been released from jail less than a year after being charged with killing a bride on her wedding night in a DUI crash last April. Komoroski posted her $150,000 bail on Friday and was released from the Charleston County jail at 3:16 p.m., according to jail records.
The tragic incident occurred on April 28, 2023, when Samantha Miller, 34, died and her groom, Aric Hutchinson, 36, was seriously injured after Komoroski allegedly rear-ended their golf cart while driving twice the posted speed limit. The newlyweds had just left their reception in Folly Beach, South Carolina, under a canopy of sparklers when the collision occurred.
Komoroski, whose blood-alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit, had been held without bail after the wreck. The bride’s mother, Lisa Miller, expressed her outrage in court, stating, “She didn’t just kill my child. She killed all of us.”
Komoroski will now be fitted with a SCRAM ankle monitor, which measures the wearer’s alcohol level by sampling their sweat every 30 minutes. She has also been forced to surrender her passport, cannot drive, and is not allowed to leave her home except for medical emergencies or court dates.
The judge ruled that Komoroski could be allowed bond if her trial didn’t start before March, but her trial date has not been set. She faces charges of three counts of felony DUI resulting in death and one count of reckless homicide.
Despite the tragic outcome of the crash, Komoroski’s lawyer stated that she looks forward to demonstrating her commitment to rehabilitation upon her pretrial release and is not a flight risk or danger to the community.
The groom, Aric Hutchinson, suffered severe injuries including brain bleeding, broken bones, and facial fractures that have required numerous surgeries. The case has sparked outrage and calls for justice from the victims’ families and the community.
The story continues to develop as the legal proceedings unfold. Stay tuned for updates on this tragic and heartbreaking case.
