Telegram CEO Pavel Durov Arrested in Paris, Apple Not Removing App

After the French police detained Telegram co-founder and CEO Pavel Durov in Paris, rumors of Apple removing the popular messaging app have resurfaced on social media. However, Telegram has clarified that the platform complies with EU laws and the allegations against Durov are false.

Following Durov’s arrest, the price of Toncoin (TON) fell by more than 20%. Despite a slight rebound, TON is currently trading at $5.77.

Apple Not Planning to Remove Telegram App

Speculations about Apple removing Telegram from the App Store and deleting it from iPhones have been circulating online. However, these claims have been debunked as old posts from 2021.

Telegram has reaffirmed its commitment to EU laws, including the Digital Services Act, and dismissed the allegations against Durov as “absurd.” The company stated that Durov’s travels to Europe are frequent and that moderation on the platform is in line with industry standards.

Digital Resistance Campaign

Accounts related to Telegram, including the Toncoin crypto project, have launched a Digital Resistance and “Free Durov” campaign. The Resistance Dog symbol has been adopted across TON Community channels in support of Durov’s fight for user privacy and freedom of speech.

Notable figures such as Elon Musk, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Vitalik Buterin have called for Durov’s release.

Toncoin Crypto Price Update

Following Durov’s arrest, TON price experienced a 20% drop but has since rebounded slightly to $5.77. The trading volume has also decreased.

In contrast, Notcoin price dropped by more than 10%, currently trading at 0.009593. Resistance Dog (REDO) price has surged by over 160% in the last 24 hours, trading at $0.708 to show support for Telegram’s founder.

Despite the turmoil surrounding Durov’s arrest, Telegram and its community remain steadfast in their commitment to privacy and freedom of speech.
