El Salvador Government Employees to Receive Bitcoin Training

El Salvador is taking its Bitcoin initiatives to the next level by introducing a certification program aimed at educating its public servants on Bitcoin (BTC). The National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC) has announced that 80,000 government employees will undergo training to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage Bitcoin-related public policies.

The Bitcoin module is part of a comprehensive 160-hour course titled “Certification in Public Administration 1,” which covers a range of concepts, laws, and skills related to public administration. Stacy Herbert, the director of ONBTC, believes that equipping civil servants with Bitcoin expertise will have a significant impact on El Salvador’s economic growth. She emphasized the importance of these educational initiatives for the long-term success of the country’s Bitcoin and tech policies.

The certification program is being conducted by the Higher School of Innovation in Public Administration (ESIAP), an institution established by President Nayib Bukele in August 2021. This educational push highlights El Salvador’s commitment to integrating Bitcoin into its national strategy and ensuring that its public servants are well-prepared to handle the challenges and opportunities associated with cryptocurrency.

President Bukele has also recently announced the revival of the Bitcoin City project, which envisions a city powered entirely by Bitcoin and free from all taxes except value-added tax. These developments showcase El Salvador’s innovative approach to embracing cryptocurrency and leveraging its potential for economic growth.

Overall, the government’s efforts to educate its employees on Bitcoin reflect a proactive stance towards embracing digital currencies and harnessing their benefits for the country’s development. With ongoing initiatives and projects like the Bitcoin City, El Salvador is positioning itself as a pioneer in the adoption of cryptocurrency on a national scale.
