A man wanted in South Carolina pulled out a gun and bit a police officer during his arrest, leading to a dramatic confrontation in Greenville on Friday night.

Marty Benjamin Miller, who had 16 active warrants, was spotted by an officer in the Nicholtown community. When the officer tried to apprehend him at a home on McCullough Street, Miller refused to comply and attempted to flee in his vehicle.

Additional officers arrived to assist, but Miller continued to resist arrest. In the struggle, he pulled out a gun, but the officers were able to disarm him. However, Miller managed to inflict a severe bite on one of the officers before a K9 officer was deployed to subdue him.

Miller was eventually taken into custody and received medical treatment at the hospital. His bond was set at $20,000. The officers involved in the incident also required medical attention.

In addition to the charges he was already facing, Miller is expected to be charged with resisting arrest with assault on a police officer, resisting arrest with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a violent felon, and interfering with law enforcement officers.

The intense confrontation highlights the dangers law enforcement officers face while carrying out their duties and serves as a reminder of the risks involved in apprehending wanted individuals.
