Federal prosecutors have issued a series of subpoenas in an ongoing corruption investigation focused on New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ election campaign in 2021. The subpoenas, issued in July, requested text messages, communications, and documents from the mayor and his election officials, including information on Adams’ travel arrangements to China and campaign fundraising.

Adams’ office stated that the mayor has fully cooperated with the investigation, emphasizing his commitment to swift resolution. His attorneys have conducted their own investigation, finding no evidence of illegal conduct by the mayor and sharing extensive evidence with the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The investigation also involves Adams’ use of private email addresses and missing records from his trips to China, some of which were reportedly funded by the Chinese Communist Party. The mayor’s private email accounts cannot be traced on city government servers, raising questions about the transparency of his dealings in China.

Last year, federal investigators seized Adams’ cellphones and an iPad, with the initial probe focusing on potential illegal campaign contributions from foreign sources. The investigation is also looking into whether the Adams campaign conspired with the Turkish government to receive such contributions through straw donors.

As the investigation continues, Mayor Adams remains under scrutiny, with the FBI probing his actions and seeking further information. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
