Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter is not one to stay silent when she feels she’s been wronged. On Wednesday, Carter took to Instagram to address ESPN’s rankings of the WNBA’s 25 best players, where she found herself ranked 24th on the list.
In her Instagram story, Carter expressed her clear disagreement with her placement, pointing out that despite averaging fewer minutes per game than many of her peers above her on the list, her stats are among the best in the league. She questioned how she could be at the bottom of the list when her field goal percentage is the sixth best of any player on ESPN’s list.
The list had Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson at the top, followed by the New York Liberty’s Breanna Stewart. Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark, who Carter had a controversial incident with in early June, was ranked 15th on the list.
Carter’s frustration with her ranking is understandable, as she has been putting up impressive numbers this season, averaging 25.1 points per game with a 51.8 field goal percentage. Despite her on-court success, Carter has also found herself in the middle of controversy due to her actions towards Clark, which she has continued to address on social media.
It’s clear that Carter is not one to back down from a challenge, whether it’s on the court or in the court of public opinion. Her determination and outspoken nature make her a force to be reckoned with in the WNBA, and it will be interesting to see how she continues to prove her critics wrong as the season progresses.
