Title: Advancing FROST in Bitcoin Production Environments: Introducing ChillDKG Protocol

Multisig transactions have long been a staple in the Bitcoin community, requiring approval from multiple parties before execution. While n-of-n and t-of-n multi-signatures have been common, the adoption of threshold signatures like FROST has been limited to experimental implementations.

FROST, along with cryptographic schemes like MuSig2, offers significant privacy and efficiency gains for multisig wallets. By reducing transaction costs and improving privacy, FROST-based wallets appear indistinguishable from regular single-signature wallets on the blockchain.

Despite the potential benefits, FROST has not seen widespread adoption in production systems. One of the main challenges lies in the complexity of the key generation process, especially in distributed key generation (DKG) scenarios.

To address this challenge, a new protocol called ChillDKG has been proposed. ChillDKG aims to simplify the key generation process for FROST, providing a standalone DKG protocol that is ready for practical use. By hiding the underlying complexity behind a user-friendly API, ChillDKG offers broad applicability and simple backups for multisig wallets.

The ChillDKG protocol is currently in the draft stage, with the authors seeking feedback on design choices and implementation details. Once finalized, the ChillDKG BIP can be used in conjunction with a FROST signing BIP to instantiate the entire FROST protocol in Bitcoin production environments.

Overall, the introduction of ChillDKG represents a significant step towards advancing FROST in Bitcoin production systems, potentially unlocking new levels of privacy and efficiency for multisig wallets.
