Indian Stock Markets to Remain Closed for 10 Days in August 2024
Investors and traders in the Indian stock markets will have to plan their strategies accordingly as the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be closed for a total of 10 days in the month of August 2024. This includes weekends as well as national holidays.
The list of holidays for August includes weekends on August 3-4, 10-11, 17-18, 24-25, and 31. Additionally, the markets will be closed on August 15 for Independence Day, which is a national holiday.
Despite the upcoming closures, the stock markets have been performing well. The BSE Sensex index closed 1.62 per cent higher at 81,332.72 points, while the NSE Nifty 50 index closed 1.76 per cent higher at 24,834.85 points after the trading session on July 26.
In terms of upcoming events, the business week of July 29 to August 2 is anticipated to see the Ola Electric IPO and Akums Drug IPO new issue, along with two other potential listings.
In other news, UltraTech Cements has received approval to acquire a 32.72 per cent stake in India Cements. The company will pay ₹3,954 crore at ₹390 per share to buy the stake from the promoters and their associates.
